- Jonathan Banning opens with a dramatic moment from the 2025 NCAA Elite Eight — a Duke team that had victory in hand with 10 seconds left, only to throw it away with a careless pass. From that image, he turns to Hebrews 10:35 and makes a pointed case: Christians are not halfway through a tied game. They are up by two with the ball in their hands. Jesus has already given believers confidence and victory. The only way to lose is to throw it away. Banning identifies three specific ways a Christian throws away their confidence — by stopping the fight against sin, by caving under suffering, and by looking somewhere other than Jesus for salvation.
