Bible classes
Bible Curriculum at Temple Terrace Church of Christ
Grow in your knowledge of God's Word through clear, faithful Bible teaching for children, teens, and adults.
Overall Philosophy
At Temple Terrace church of Christ, our Bible classes are built on a simple conviction: the Bible is the complete and sufficient word of God, and it is meant to be understood, taught, and lived.
Across every age group, our goal is clear, faithful teaching of Scripture. We aim to help each student, whether child, teen, or adult, develop a working knowledge of the Bible, understand God's plan from beginning to end, and learn how to apply His word in everyday life. Our classes are structured, intentional, and centered on the text itself, so that each person is equipped to grow in knowledge, conviction, and obedience.
Early childhood
Ages 2-3
Our class for two and three-year-olds introduces young children to the Bible through a simple, structured approach that builds early familiarity with both the Old and New Testaments.
Students are grouped by age, with two-year-olds beginning the year in the Old Testament room and three-year-olds beginning in the New Testament room. After the first two quarters, the groups switch rooms, allowing each child to spend equal time in both the Old and New Testaments over the course of the year.
This rotation provides consistent exposure to foundational Bible accounts from both parts of Scripture, helping young children begin to recognize key people, events, and themes in a clear and organized way.
Ages 4-5 & Kindergarten
Our program for four and five-year-olds and kindergarten students is designed to introduce a chronological understanding of the Bible while reinforcing the unity and purpose of Scripture.
Students are taught that God had a plan for His people from before the creation of the world, and that the Bible has been given by God so that we can understand and follow that plan. Instruction emphasizes how individual Bible accounts fit within the larger story of God's work.
Four and five-year-old students complete a one-year chronological study through the Old Testament, while kindergarten students complete a one-year chronological study through the New Testament. This structure provides a clear and orderly introduction to the Bible, helping students begin to see how God's plan unfolds from beginning to end.
Elementary School (Grades 1-6)
Our elementary Bible program is designed to give students a comprehensive and structured understanding of the entire Bible from an early age.
Each year, students are guided through both the Old and New Testaments, with the material organized around a central theme. Over a three-year cycle (Covenants, Redemption, and Worship) students revisit the full story of Scripture with increasing depth and maturity. Rather than repeating the same lessons, each year introduces new passages and perspectives, helping students build a well-rounded and connected understanding of God's word.
1st grade
Covenants (Level 1)
Students are introduced to the Bible as one unified account of God's promises, tracing His faithfulness from Creation through Christ.
2nd-3rd grade
Redemption (Level 1) / Covenants (Level 2)
Students begin to understand the problem of sin and God's plan to redeem mankind, while reinforcing the foundation of His covenant promises.
4th-5th grade
Redemption (Level 2) / Worship
Students deepen their understanding of redemption and are taught how worship is a response to who God is and what He has done.
This progression helps students not only learn Bible stories, but understand how those accounts fit together, forming a strong foundation for future study.
Middle School and High School (Grades 7-12)
Our program for middle and high school students is designed to build on foundational knowledge and develop deeper understanding, reasoning, and application of Scripture.
Middle School (Grades 6-8)
Middle school classes follow a structured three-year rotation, covering a wide range of Bible books and key themes. Students engage directly with Scripture through studies in books such as Acts, Luke, Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Galatians, James, and 1 & 2 Thessalonians.
In addition to book studies, students also work through focused topics such as Creation, the Exodus and wilderness period, the Sermon on the Mount, Ecclesiastes, Job, and Christian evidences. These studies are designed to help students understand not only what the Bible says, but why it matters and how it fits together.
High School (Grades 9-12)
High school classes are structured to encourage greater depth, personal responsibility, and real-world application. Classes may be organized by grade level or by boys and girls, depending on the needs of the group. The program follows a two-year rotation, allowing students to study key New Testament books such as Hebrews, 1-3 John, 1 & 2 Peter, and 1 & 2 Timothy, along with thematic studies including the Prison Epistles, the history of the church after Acts, comparative religions, family relationships, and current issues facing young Christians.
New classes are introduced each quarter, providing variety while maintaining a consistent focus: understanding Scripture clearly and applying it faithfully in everyday life.
Adult Bible Classes
Our adult Bible class program is designed to provide a comprehensive, balanced, and ongoing study of Scripture.
Classes are organized on a quarterly basis, with four Bible classes offered each quarter. Rather than selecting topics at random, the program is intentionally structured to ensure that, over time, students are exposed to the full scope of the Bible. Each quarter typically includes a balanced combination of:
Old Testament
Focusing on the history, law, and writings of God's people.
New Testament
Emphasizing the teachings and work of Christ and the early church.
Christ-centered
Drawn from the Gospels or focused directly on the life and teaching of Jesus.
Topical
Addressing specific biblical themes, practical application, or areas of spiritual growth.
This structure allows for both breadth and depth, covering the whole Bible over time while also allowing for focused, detailed study of individual books and subjects.
Classes change each quarter, giving individuals the opportunity to engage in different areas of study while maintaining continuity and balance. Books and topics are revisited over time, but not so frequently that the study becomes repetitive.
The goal of the program is not simply to increase knowledge, but to encourage serious, consistent engagement with Scripture so that each person is better equipped to understand God's word, grow in conviction, and live accordingly.
