“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (PS 118:24). Today, this day, every day is a gift from Heaven. We plan for the next day, week, and year, but we would do well to “rejoice” and “be glad” in this day.
Why? Because you’re alive today. Don’t assume that will be true tomorrow. So use today for something good. Read something worthwhile. Engage in a meaningful conversation. Do something beneficial for someone just for the sake of doing good. Don’t waste this day.
Why? Because God has given you the capacity to see what really matters today. Beyond the shopping and stuff that comes with this Season, what matters is family and faith and friends and fellowship and freedom. And smiles and hugs. We often sing, “Open our eyes Lord...” That’s a worthy prayer. “Open our eyes” to see Jesus and to see through His eyes ... to see opportunities to make a real, tangible, meaningful difference for good today.
Why? Because God has given you today to make corrections in your life. One of these days, you will have no more days. No more days to make corrections with God or be reconciled with men. But you do have this day and should “rejoice” that you do.
